Nerja is a beautiful former fishing village on the coast of Costa de Sol in the south of Spain.
It's surrounded of mountains and have several nice beaches and allot of restaurants.
Nerja is perfectly situated 50km from Malaga and 90km from Granada (which with the new highway takes less than an hour to reach). Technically you could go skiing in Sierra Nevada (or visit the Alhambra) in the morning and return for a late lunch at the beach.
The ambient is international but still keeps it's Spanish roots. In Nerja you have serveral posibilities to learn Spanish or if not its quite possible to get along just fine in english.
There are plenty of different Restaurants for EVERY taste and style.

My favourite thing about Nerja is sipping a coctail on Burriana Beach...
Mine is having a big "tanque" of beer and eating Ayos paella and finishing off lunch with a yummy chocolate mousse :-) or a huge pice of chocolate cake at "tropy sol".
